Welcome
Acorn Cottage is a beautiful holiday cottage located in West Wales. Sleeps 4 in comfort.
Joan and Steve Harwood bought Dolwen, an 18th Century farmhouse and outbuildings, in 2002. Since then they have been restoring the smallholding, found in the village of Drefach, Ceredigion about 5 miles from Lampeter, back to its former glory, a real labour of love. This is a beautiful part of Wales.
In 2004 they started the conversion of the former Hayloft now called "Acorn Cottage", into a beautifully restored 2 bedroom holiday cottage with its own private garden and all the peace and tranquillity anyone on holiday could possibly desire!
Set in the courtyard, Acorn Cottage faces the walled duck pond with its seating areas and Victorian lamp standard, and the renovated Pigsty.
Dolwen and Acorn Cottage share about 10 acres of beautiful pastureland with Jess the border collie, a small flock of rare breed sheep (mainly Herdwicks and Jacobs), Ronnie the cockerel and his ladies (plenty of free range eggs available!). Of course there is also the abundance of wildlife and birds found around Dolwen, Red Kites being regular visitors and badgers have been seen occasionally.
A block of five stables and plenty of pasture available, mean you can also bring your horse / pony on holiday with you. There is lots of room for parking including horse boxes. Dogs, cats, horses, ponies and children welcome.
